Indigenous weaving workshops at the El Chile community

The indigenous community of “El Chile” is located east of Matagalpa and is rich in history and culture. On this tour, we visit the workshop of a group of women fabric weavers where we will see the production process as well as the different products they make such as: bags, purses and backpacks. Also we walk in the community where other groups of artisans also produce fabrics with ancient techniques. We take a hike (45 minutes) up to the “El Chile” hill with its 360-degree view of all the surrounding mountains. Then, we will get to enjoy the day even more by partaking in a typical lunch at one of the ladies’ houses who will give you an inside look at their way of life.
