Grand tour of Nicaragua (14 days – 13 nights)
Experience most of the highlights of Nicaragua in 14 days: 2 antique colonial cities founded almost 500 years ago, their architecture and history; Ometepe Island, largest volcanic island in a lake in the world; San Juan del Sur at the Pacific Ocean; Matagalpa, the mountains and the coffee plantations; Corn Island, paradise located at the Caribbean Sea. We can customize it, adding or removing a day here and there, and add activities according to your wishes!

On your arrival at the International Airport in Managua, you will be transferred to Hotel Los Robles 3*. Meals: –
In the morning, you will go for a guided visit of Managua, the capital of Nicaragua since 1852. The city has had a turbulent history due wars and natural disasters and nowadays is in constant changes. Visit places such as Loma de Tiscapa, historical site hosting the ruins of Somoza’s Palace and great views to Managua, the National Palace, the old cathedral and the Mercado Huembes, a very huge popular market offering all kind of goods and handicrafts. Following your tour, continue north to the mountainous region Matagalpa and its fresh weather, home of famous coffee plantations. Make a quick visit of Matagalpa with your driver, visit the Coffee Museum if opened and then overnight at Hotel Selva Negra 2*. Meals: B
Morning pick up at your Lodge to visit the indigenous community of “El Chile”, located east of Matagalpa. On this tour, we visit the workshop of a group of women fabric weavers where we will see the production process as well as the different products they make such as: bags, purses and backpacks (You may buy handicrafts on-site). Walk in the community and see other groups of artisans also producing fabrics with ancient techniques. Take a hike (30 minutes) up to the “El Chile” hill with its 360-degree view of all the surrounding mountains. A typical lunch will be enjoyed at one of the ladies’ houses who will give you an inside look at their way of life.

Enjoy breakfast in the cloud forest! Later, enjoy a Sustainability Tour in the area to learn the different process of the Farm. Visit the workers’ village, barns and farm animals, the laboratory where their own organic weed and pest controls are made and the cheese house. After this interesting visit, continue to León stopping at San Jacinto, a small village located between 2 volcanoes, hiding the “Hervideros”, these geysers whose vapor with 300°C leaves the entrails of the ground permanently. Arrival in Leon and have some time at leisure to visit the city. Overnight at Hotel Flor de Sarta 2* sup. Meals: B
Morning transfer Managua Airport to catch a domestic flight to Corn Island in the Nicaragua Caribbean Coast. Upon arrival, taxi a taxi to the docks and board an open air boat (on your own) from Big Corn to Little Corn to reach your beach hotel. The two Corn Islands, Big Corn Island and Little Corn Island are lush with exotic fruit trees, native Palms and surrounded by white sand beaches. Arrival and check in at Hotel Little Corn Beach & Bungalow. Meals: –
Free time in Little Corn Island! Enjoy the turquoise waters and fresh breeze of the Caribbean. Optional activities such as boat rides, snorkeling and diving are available. Hotel Little Corn Beach & Bungalow. Meals: –
Today, you will get the open boat back to Big Corn Island, from where you will take your schedule flight to the International Airport of Managua. On your schedule arrival you will be greeted by your driver and transferred to your hotel in Granada. Arrival and check in at your Hotel Patio del Malinche 2* sup. Meals: B
Morning at leisure to relax and visit this beautiful colonial city. You may also take a Chocolate Workshop or visit the cloud forest reserve of Mombacho volcano. Please inquiry for more information!
Around midday, we’ll drive you to Lake Nicaragua. First, enjoy a delicious typical lunch in a “palapa style” restaurant in front of the water, then enjoy a boat Ride in Lake Nicaragua, a small archipelago of beautiful islands covered in lush vegetation and home to local fishermen communities and many species of birds. The inhabitants (“Isleños”) live peacefully in simple yet decent conditions and dedicate themselves to fishing and small agriculture, and now to tourism too. In the morning you will be transferred to San Jorge, where you will take the ferry to Ometepe Island, the world’s largest volcanic island in a lake. Its twin volcanic peaks, rising up out of Lake Nicaragua, have captured the imagination of everyone from pre-colonial Aztec to Mark Twain to nowadays travelers. You will be picked up at the ferry at your arrival on the Island, and transferred to Hotel San Juan de La Isla 2* sup. Meals: B
Free day in Ometepe Island! Optional tours available, like hiking in the rain forest, hike an active volcano, tour of the island, see the petroglyphs, horseback riding and more are available. Please consult with us for more information. Overnight at Hotel San Juan de La Isla. Meals: B
Breakfast in your hotel and transfer to the docks, board a ferry to the main land. Transfer to San Juan del Sur, a small and very nice typical fishermen community located at the south west, and 70 Kms from Costa Rica’s frontier. Upon arrival in San Juan, check in at Hotel La Posada Azul (3*) and enjoy time at leisure in town. Meals: B
Free day in San Juan, to enjoy the different tours and possible activities in the area:
- Drive around to discover the surrounding beaches such as Maderas, Majagual, Marsella, El Coco.
- Enjoy your time in this pleasant village with its numerous water front bars and restaurants, boutiques and souvenirs, discotheques.

Free morning in San Juan del Sur. In the early afternoon you will be transferred to Managua, visiting the Masaya area on the way. Visit some typical White Villages, enjoy panoramic views of Apoyo Lagoon, Granada and Lake Nicaragua; later take part of creating beautifully handmade souvenirs with a local family. In Masaya, enjoy at the Handicraft Market; the creativity from local artisans and may even purchase souvenirs at reasonable prices. This great day is complete with a visit to the imposing Masaya volcano and its very active crater (currently hosting a lava lake!). Take a peek into the crater and observe this unique natural phenomena! You can also visit the Museum that offer interesting history and legends.
