This trip is a relaxing tour and includes 2 of the main highlights: Arenal volcano (with tour on the way from San Jose) and its extensive nature and amazing volcano, and Manuel Antonio and its national park and white sand beaches. There is time at leisure at the beach so you may decide to take optional activities or just wander around.

Arrival to the Juan Santamaria International Airport in San José and private transfer to your hotel.

Today, a private transfer will take you to hotel Villa Blanca located above San Jose in the Los Angeles Cloud Forest Reserve. Adjacent to the Monteverde Cloud Forest Reserve, this misty private park is one of Costa Rica’s best-kept secrets offering a section of cloud forest rarely visited by tourists. The result is a serene, secluded reserve where hikers spot more wild animals than they do other visitors. The day is at leisure in the property. Free entrance to Villa Blanca’s Biological Research Station and self-guided walking trail are included in the rates.

Enjoy an early morning birdwatching tour in the cloud forest. With approximately 906 recorded bird species in Costa Rica, the country boasts one-tenth of the species of the world’s total bird population. You have a great chance to set off in the cool morning air of the hotel’s cloud forest and gentle sloping pastures on a quest to spot your share of the more than 250 local species including rare jewels of the bird world as the Quetzals. The rest of the day is at leisure. Overnight at Hotel Villa Blanca. Meals: B.

Breakfast and private transfer to San Jose Airport for your domestic flight to Puerto Jimenez in the Osa Peninsula.
From there transfer to your lodge located on the extreme south of Costa Rica, at the entrance of Corcovado national park. Continue to La Leona Ecolodge 2* basic (rustic tented camp in the jungle). La Leona Eco Lodge, a cluster of 20 raised tents, sits at the edge of the Corcovado National Park with spectacular views to the Pacific. Live a great experience directly in touch with nature! Meals: B-D

Time at leisure in your jungle lodge in the Osa Peninsula. Several optional tours are available. Breakfast and dinner included (lunch can be included on request).

Corcovado – San Gerardo de DotaDay 7: Corcovado – San Gerardo de Dota

This morning head back to Carate and then continue by vehicle to the airstrip and take the short domestic flight back to San Jose. Upon arrival, we will transfer you with a private vehicle to San Gerardo de Dota, a mountainous area located south of San Jose, where the famous Quetzal can be observed…

Day 8: SSan Gerardo de Dota an Gerardo de Dota

Day at leisure in this nature paradise. Optional activities are available from the Lodge, such as hike in one of the trails with a naturalist guide, Quetzal quest, Canopy tour, Horseback riding tour and Waterfall tour.

Today you will be transferred privately to Manuel Antonio area, located in the Mid Pacific. Manuel Antonio besides from hosting beautiful beaches also hosts one of Costa Rica oldest and most famous national parks.

Days at leisure in Manuel Antonio area. Many activities can be organized such as visits in the national park, wildlife watching, white water rafting in Rio Savegre and more.

Manuel Antonio – la Fortuna - Hike to Arenal national parkDay 12: Manuel Antonio – la Fortuna – Hike to Arenal national park

Breakfast and shared transfer to La Fortuna, home to the iconic Arenal Volcano. Arrival and check-in at your hotel, very conveniently located in front of Arenal volcano, a few miles away from la Fortuna picturesque town.
In the afternoon go for a hike at the Arenal Volcano National Park. The tour starts with a drive to the active western side of the volcano. Once there you will embark on a hike on the toucan’s trail. Your will not only will provide interesting and educational information regarding the history of the volcano but also point out the diverse fauna and flora of the area. Your reward at the end of this trail is the path created by the 1992 lava flows. You have time to explore, observe a great variety of plants and magnificent lava rock formations. From the top of the lava flow you will have a beautiful view of Lake Arenal. Night at hotel Lomas del Volcan 3*. Meals: B. Shared tour!
Optional this evening or tomorrow (Enjoy a visit to the hot springs, relax at the thermal waters from the nearby volcano (natural pools, swim up bars etc., just all you need!).

Day at leisure in la Fortuna. Many optional ours are available in the area:

la Fortuna – Caño NegroDay 14: la Fortuna – Caño Negro

Today you will be collected at your hotel in the early morning. You will be transferred north to the Caño Negro wildlife refuge, from there take a boat touring the Rio Frio (“Cold River”). You will see lots of birds during the trip. Lunch included. You may also visit an iguana farm. This is a group tour today. Transfer back to Arenal, you will get there back around 3pm. Night at hotel Lomas del Volcan 3*.

 La Fortuna – GuanacasteDay 15: La Fortuna – Guanacaste

After breakfast, we transfer you to Playa Hermosa, a beautiful beach located 30 minutes’ drive from the airport in the Papagayo Gulf. Accommodation at Playa Hermosa.

Playa Hermosa Days 16 and 17: Playa Hermosa

Time at the beach, on your own. Many optional, land and water tours are offered in the area: Jet ski, ATV’s, sport fishing, sunset tours, or go to the typical fishing village of Playas del Coco, just a few miles south; or excursions to Palo Verde wildlife refuge, or Rincon de la Vieja NP. The area of Hermosa is also very good for snorkeling.

Playa Hermosa – San JoseDay 18: Playa Hermosa – San Jose

Leave the beach; from playa Hermosa, private transfer to the Central Valley close to San Jose. Accommodation at Poas Volcano Lodge 3* sup, a small and cosy mountain Lodge with breathtaking views of Poas Volcano and the northern Caribbean Plains. Meals: B

Today take a tour around the Central Valley: As we ascend in the mountains we will notice a change in temperature and vegetation. Reach the Poas Volcano where we will not only admire the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles, but also learn about the different ecosystems in this unique and protected national park.
Later, continue to La Paz Water Fall Garden. Walk through a trail, leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Inside the park we will also visit the serpentarium, the bird house, the butterfly garden and the frog’s exhibit. Lunch included at La Paz. After the tour, transfer back to Poas Volcano Lodge. Meals: B-L

Today you will be transferred privately from the mountains to San Jose airport (SJO) for your flight back to your country. End of services.
