This trip features lots of soft adventures and sightseeing. All sites included feature extensive wildlife watching! A few days relaxing at the beach in Manuel Antonio National Park are included at the end. Pace is moderate, as no strenuous activity is included (Maximum 2 hours’ hike/walk in Monteverde rain forest). Ideal for couples and for families alike.

Arrival to the Juan Santamaria International Airport (SJO) and private transfer to your hotel in San Jose to rest after your flight. Arrival and check-in at Hotel Rincon del Valle 3*. Meals: –

San Jose – Poas and La Paz waterfall & gardens tour – La FortunaDay 2: San Jose – Poas and La Paz waterfall & gardens tour – La Fortuna       

Today meet your bilingual driver to transfer north towards la Fortuna and Arenal volcano, via the mountains of the Central Valley. As we ascend in the mountains we will notice a change in temperature and vegetation. Reach the Poas Volcano where we will not only admire the impressive main crater with its sulfur fumaroles, but also learn about the different ecosystems in this unique and protected national park.
Later, continue to La Paz Water Fall Garden. Walk through a trail, leading to a spectacular waterfall in the middle of the rainforest. Inside the park we will also visit the serpentarium, the bird house, the butterfly garden and the frog’s exhibit. Lunch included at La Paz. Continue the trip with scenery way in the mountains until reaching La Fortuna and its iconic Arenal volcano.

Early morning transfer north to Caño Negro wildlife refuge. From there take a boat touring the Rio Frio (“Cold River”). You will see lots of birds during the trip. Lunch included. You may also visit an iguana farm. This is a group tour today. Transfer back to Arenal, you will get back there around 3pm. Note: Tours are shared.
Optional (Not included): Enjoy a refreshing evening in thermal hot springs, an extraordinary natural site with hot springs and thermal waters from nearby volcano, with buffet dinner included. The perfect place to enjoy nature and relax after an active day! Night at Hotel Lomas del Volcan. Meals: B

la Fortuna – Snakes & reptiles refuge - Monteverde by Jeep-Boat-JeepDay 4: la Fortuna – Snakes & reptiles refuge – Monteverde by Jeep-Boat-Jeep

Breakfast and transfer to El Castillo located north shore of Arenal volcano. You will visit the serpentarium, a very interesting reptile’s refuge where you will observe all varieties of snakes, frogs, tarantulas, turtles, fishes (tilapias), a caiman and more. Very educative! The 20 ft long python is also an impressive live piece.
In the early afternoon, you will be picked up at your hotel and will continue your journey to the famous Monteverde Cloud forest. Travel in the most adventures way: Boat crossing Lake Arenal with great views of Arenal Volcano and land transfer to your hotel. Arrival and Check-in at Hotel Belmar 3*. Meals: B

Monteverde Rain Forest adventures – Sugar mill tourDay 5: Monteverde Rain Forest adventures – Sugar mill tour

This morning, you will be picked up to enjoy three adventurous activities in one solo day. Start with the Sky Walk: Enjoy this guided tour where you will learn all about the flora and fauna of the area walking through and over the treetops in land and suspension bridges. With the Sky Tram explore the world famous Cloud Forest of Monteverde in a 5,249 feet ride that would lead you up to Costa Rica Continental Divide. Finally, it’s time for some adrenaline with the Sky Trek: Fly over the treetops through 10 different cables with safety harness and fantastic aerial views of the cloud forest. 
In the afternoon join a very interesting and educational activity: The Trapiche tour. This project will allow you to meet and share with a peasant family and learn from the Costa Rican culture. You will see banana, coffee process and other plantations, as well a project of tilapia (kind of fish). To end the tour of the farm you are invited to make a small trip in an oxcart, and then learn about the process of the sugar cane until you get the sugar on your table. Overnight at Hotel Belmar. Monteverde –Rio Tarcoles and crocodiles - Manuel AntonioDay 6: Monteverde –Rio Tarcoles and crocodiles – Manuel Antonio

Today you will leave the cloud forest and head south to the Pacific Ocean. On the way, stop at Rio Tarcoles to observe crocodiles (great American crocodile), these 20+ feet animals are found by dozens in this area!
Continue to Manuel Antonio, accommodation at The Falls Resort 3*. Meals: B-L

Days at leisure in Manuel Antonio area. Many activities can be organized such as visits in the national park, wildlife watching, white water rafting in Rio Savegre and more.
